From Sempre Avanti to Semper Sursum
A Legacy of Ascent. A Mindset of Growth.
Back in February 1945, during the final push of the Italian campaign, the 10th Mountain Division was preparing to scale the steep slopes of Mount Belvedere. Before the climb, Major General George P. Hays gave a powerful call to his men:
“Continue to move forward. Never stop. Always forward.”
Those words struck a deep chord. They became more than a command, they became the heartbeat of the unit. The phrase “Sempre Avanti” — Always Forward — became a rallying cry that embodied resilience, courage, and unshakable grit.
It wasn’t just about moving through physical terrain. It was about advancing through fear, fatigue, and uncertainty. It was about character.
That same spirit lives on in The Climb. While we may not face bullets or snow-covered battlefields, we challenge ourselves to summit inner mountains — of mindset, growth, and personal transformation.
Our motto? Semper Sursum — Always Upward.
If Sempre Avanti was about pushing through adversity, Semper Sursum is about rising into new levels of who we are — emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. It’s about Vertical Development: the pursuit of a deeper, stronger, more expansive self.
We grow in:
Cognitive sophistication — thinking more broadly and systemically
Emotional maturity — leading with empathy, calm, and self-awareness
Positive mindsets — choosing openness, growth, and possibility
Whether you're climbing a literal mountain or facing a personal one, this journey isn't just about movement — it’s about transformation.
Just like the soldiers of the 10th Mountain kept moving Sempre Avanti, we climb Semper Sursum — always upward — with courage, clarity, and heart.
